American conservative media personality Tucker Carlson has announced the launch of ALP, a new nicotine pouch brand, in a joint venture with Turning Point Brands.

ALP will be sold, marketed and distributed through ALP Supply Co, a newly formed 50/50 joint venture between the Tucker Carlson Network and Turning Point Brands, which manufactures and markets products including rolling papers, chewing tobacco and nicotine pouches.

The product is launching with three nicotine strengths — 3mg, 6mg, and 9mg — and in four flavours, including Chilled Mint, Mountain Wintergreen, Refreshing Chill and Tropical Fruit.

“There’s no reason consumers should be forced to buy nicotine pouches from soulless, pronoun loving, politicised conglomerates that despise them and their culture,” said Carlson. “With ALP, they now have an alternative that is delicious and far better than Zyn, which in case you haven’t noticed is as dry as a teabag.”

Known for his bold and often polarising commentary, Carlson, an ally of US president-elect Donald Trump, hosted the nightly political talk show Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News from 2016 to 2023, where he attracted a large following with his outspoken views on political and cultural issues, often challenging mainstream narratives and drawing criticism for controversial stances.

Since his contract with Fox News was terminated, he has hosted Tucker on X and The Tucker Carlson Show.

Although nicotine pouches were introduced a decade ago and are legally restricted to individuals aged 21 and older, they have recently become a youth trend in the US, heavily promoted on social media by ‘Zynfluencers’ – a play on the name of the top-selling brand, Zyn.
